Skills #13-14 + Legacy skill dump
These are the last two skills he won back...
Skill #13 - Shotlocks
Regained - Game #153, Dream, heart games (Edmund's)
Notes - Oh, look, a skill write-up I can do as a video! Shotlock exhibition. Well, skip the random introduction until about 0:45.
He gets one of these per day. Multivortex is particularly broken, so it probably also drains him in some other ways; like if he throws that he'll be too exhausted to use command styles or finishers or so on. Under cap they probably go from "one-hit-kill 30 enemies" to "ding/slow down a lot of enemies or do moderate damage to one."
He can be damaged while he takes the few seconds to line one up, but once he's actually performing it--firing off blasts, charging around, etcetera--he's invulnerable for the duration. At least in canon; I will probably powercap that as he's nigh-impossible to hit when he's charging and hard to hit when he's floating and firing stuff off.
Skill #14 - Inventory
Regained - Game #154, Gingerbread Witch, cookie racing
Notes - It's a pretty standard RPG inventory skill. Can stash up to 99 of any item (except less since he's powercapped) in hammerspace in the rough area of his back pants pockets.
The only major note about this inventory as opposed to various other inventory skills floating around Aather is that it's just him. The BBS kids do not actually share inventory, IIRC (they just share everything else.) So I'm going to rule that he plain can't share inventory. No note-passing.
I did a quick-and-dirty list of what he's got inventoried here; he may add more things as time goes on.
...and these are the skills he got in a dump when he legacied.
Stat and support abilities
Regained - Legacy skill dump
Notes - So these are all the little boost abilities you get as you go through the game. The net effect of this skill is to make him just a tiny bit more badass and give him a few specific tricks.
General stat increases...
- Takes slightly less damage from fire, blizzard, lightning, and dark elemental magic.
- Deals slightly more damage with fire, blizzard, and lightning elemental magic (which just means that these elements are slightly more badass but still not as strong as his primary wind and light magic.)
- His cures/as/agas are a tad stronger. :)
- A bit less cooldown before he can use the same command again, especially if he's badly injured.
- Deals slightly more damage with finish commands and the last blow in a combo.
- More HP: slightly tougher. This isn't a physical change really so much as a willpower boost; he can take more hits before giving into pain/exhaustion, but it's not going to help with him still being physically bitty, or with structural damage like "no you can't actually put weight on an unsplinted broken leg it collapses."
Specific tricks...
- Scan: Can see HP bars of both friend and foe. Former useful for judging healing, latter useful for judging how long a fight is going to last. Nothing's immune to scan in KH, but whoever or whatever wants can be immune to scan in Aather because lol powercap.
- Second Chance: Can hold onto life with 1 HP after taking a single massive blow that would normally kill him, assuming he wasn't already at 1 HP. Under powercap, this will limit itself to reasonable amounts of damage, and won't work in games.
- Once More: Same as Second Chance except with combo damage.
- Defender: Tougher when in crit HP. Mostly just makes him a bit more of a determinator in an emergency, especially when combined with the above. See also the notes above under more HP.
- Leaf Bracer: Cannot be injured when casting healing magic. :) :) :) :) :)
The combo plus abilities were really more covered under advanced swordmanship, since I just kind of assumed he could do longer combos from then. (I brain-farted on adding this skill to his registry until a few weeks ago, ok >.>)
The various prize generating, treasure magnet, and EXP abilities do not apply in Fred, since monsters don't explode into convenient HP prizes when killed and he doesn't level up in the RPG sense. Damage Syphon is also irrelevant, since his shotlocks are capped at one per day so getting more FOCUS does nothing.
So tl:dr; moar ability to be a tiny determinator, can see your HP, and invulnerable when casting healing magic. And this is kind of a perfect time to get this, since he's fully integrated his willpower level-up from destroying Vanitas and this will just let him translate it to enduring in battle better.
D-links
Regained - Legacy skill dump
Notes - HAHAHA t-this one's complicated. Okay so. First off, before I even start explaining the skill itself, receiving this skill will not actually allow him to do it. This is a two-part thing; the other part is the spell that Aqua put on the wayfinders she gave her boys. Since Ven didn't know about that spell and just quested for the physical item from a knight, he'll need to take out a Persona quest to re-enchant the item to allow use of this skill. HI NIMUE I THINK THIS IS UP YOUR ALLEY!
D-links are Ven's POWER OF FRIENDSHIP attacks. They aren't summons so much as the ability to borrow a friend's fighting style (m-more or less) for a brief period of time. This lasts one minute and twenty-eight seconds, and basically completely rewrites/overrides his own skillset. There's no indication that him using this skill has any adverse effect on the person he's borrowing from.
In canon, D-linking automatically heals him to full HP, but that is getting powercap-nerfed obviously. I'll limit these to once a day, like most of his wacky extra attacks, but if he cancels out of one early he might be able to do a second later for a brief amount of time. Obviously he'll largely use these to show off or in emergencies when he needs access to something that he wouldn't normally be able to do.
When he's D-linked:
- His command deck is entirely replaced by the D-link commands. This means no healing, for example, unless he's linked with somebody who would give him a healing command (say, Aqua.)
- His normal finish command is replaced with the D-link finish command (which is generally a pretty splashy one.) He cannot use command styles. Shotlocks are still available though. (I think? I might say they aren't in Aather though.)
- He gains access to two bonus support abilities, a lot of which are pretty twinked in canon but which will be pretty heavily capped in Aather (and some of which don't apply.)
- The command gauge which allows him to access the finisher will fill notably slower than usual overall, but each link has a specific condition for filling the gauge faster, basically rewarding him for matching the other person's style well.
- Unique to Aather: He is still pulling these attacks from his own energy; if he uses 2 MP to cast Watera while D-linked to Mau, he'll be down 2 MP for the day when the link ends. If he throws the finisher and tidal-waves the enemy, he'll not be able to do any of his own finishers for the day. (In canon, it's possible to use the finisher multiple times per D-link, but in Aather, nope.jpg.)
Under powercap, especially depending upon who he's linking with, this can be a two-edged skill, since the support abilities are capped, he's locking himself out of most of his stuff including possibly any HP recovery, and the wacky magic and splashy finishers of a D-link will drain energy he'd otherwise be able to use for healing.
I'm not going to list the full details of all of his canon D-links here because that would take forever, but they are Aqua, Terra, Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Snow White, Cinderella, Zack, Experiment 626 (Stitch), and Peter Pan. But, for example, D-linking with Aqua would give him a command deck stacked almost entirely with -ara to -aga level elemental magic, the ability to perform her final finisher instead of his own, his command gauge will rise faster if he spams magic, and he has the ability to nullify Fire/Blizzard/Thunder/Dark attacks 50% of the time and a one-use auto-revive to 25% HP ability. (Except in Aather that's more like 25% chance to nullify and, uh, lol nope.)
In canon he forms D-links with people he meets for five minutes, because KH, but I'd prrrrobably be limiting formation of new D-links in Aather to his very closest CR? Josh, Roxas, Mau, Edmund, Lelouch, Cassie, Emil, Daisy, and possibly Riku and Sora and other Peridots could give him D-links. Obviously this is opt-in, but I look forward to at least vaguely designing command decks/finishers/abilities for everyone. (And in some cases already have some ideas! I might get pretty creative with some of them. :3 In canon, forming D-links with noncombatants mostly results in vaguely themed collections of standard deck commands, but I might get creative with making up new commands which are KH-like but unique to that D-link (which is the case with some of Snow White's.) Largely I suspect it's Cassie and Lulu's D-links that might get weird, because hand-to-hand fighter and lolouch.)
SO COMMENT HERE IF YOU WANT ME TO DESIGN A D-LINK FOR YOU.
The everything else package - All magic and associated attacks and command styles not yet accounted for
Regained - Legacy skill dump
Notes - HAHAHA. HAHA. HA.
Okay this skill is like. Lists. This basically gives him access to all of his canon commands. WHICH IS. A LOT. I'm going to group these into trees; a lot of the magical elements etcetera come with associated attacks, and like Tornado Strike and others, I'm assuming he can vary the amount of power he puts into them, 1-2 MP worth, for varying strength of attack. Some of them also come with other associated things; I'll note them as appropriate. 1/2/3 MP for the base/-ara/-aga as per usual, I'll note other MP costs as appropriate in parentheses.
In general, these are all proportionally weaker than his light and wind magic, though the fire/ice/lightning trifecta is better off due to the boost abilities up above. He's pretty unlikely to use most of them except in really specific circumstances.
This also comes with three extra command styles; these are first-level ones that he can use twice a day and use to step up into Cyclone or Wingblade. He gets into them by using associated magic or elemental attacks, and they give him an elemental aura and attach that element to all his attacks, etcetera.
Fire - Ignite, Fire, Fira, Firaga, Fission Firaga (4 MP, exploding fireball), Crawling Firaga (3 MP, homing ground fire), Mega Flare (6 MP, giant firestorm around him). Elemental attacks: Fire Dash, Fire Surge, Fire Strike. Command style: Firestorm. Bonus movement command: Fire Glide, can light himself on fire while he glides to do damage to shit. All fire magic/attacks have a chance of igniting a foe to doe continual damage for a bit.
Ice - Blizzard, Blizzara, Blizzaga, Deep Freeze (6 MP, large area ice attack, IIRC). Elemental attacks: Freeze Raid, Blizzard Edge. Command style: Diamond Dust. All ice magic/attacks have a chance of freezing a foe solid in a block of ice.
Lightning - Thunder, Thundara, Thundaga. Elemental attacks: Thunder Surge. Command style: Thunder Bolt. Bonus movement command: Thunder Roll, can electrify himself while dodge rolling to do damage to shit. All lightning magic/attacks have a chance of leaving a residual electric charge around a foe that deals damage when they touch anything.
Gravity - Zero Gravity, Zero Gravira, Zero Graviga. (These all lift enemies within a certain radius into the air where they float helplessly and take minor-moderate damage.) Transcendance (prob. 5 MP, suck a batch of enemies in and then explosion.)
Magnetism - Magnet, Magnera, Magnega. (These all create a point in the air that picks enemies off the ground and whirls them around while doing minor-moderate damage.) Magnet Spiral (? I don't remember what this one does), Collision Magnet (3 MP, grab one enemy on a magic rope and crash it into others.)
Time - Slow, Stop, Stopra, Stopga. Time Splicer (4 MP, wide area stopga and teleport spam attack.)
Other Statuses - Mini (shrinks enemies to appx. 1 foot tall), Blackout (area blind), Confuse, Bind (rooted to the spot), Poison. Status attacks: damage with a chance of inflicting the status: Confusion Strike, Binding Strike, Poison Edge.
Mines - Mine Shield and Mine Square: both deploy small glowing mines that blow up if an enemy steps into it. 2 MP for each spell. Shield sets them in a line in front of him, Square in, well, a square around him.
